Frequently asked questions:

Q: Who are you?
A: If you are asking this question, chances are you are new to this site. Welcome! I am PJ. I live with my husband in San Jose, California. I am an Engineer by profession but cooking and reading are two of my favorite pass-times. I am not really all that interesting, but since you ask you can read more about me here.

Q: What is Ginger & Garlic?
A: Ginger & Garlic is a web recipe catalogue of my experiments in the kitchen. My interest in cooking started at around early 2007 as a by-product of my desire to eat healthy and to get in better shape. Most of the recipes featured on this site use fresh seasonal local ingredients and simple healthy preparations (though once in a while I do indulge in an occasional chocolaty treat :D) For many years I used to keep my recipes and kitchen notes catalogued in a form of series of emails on Gmail until one day through a lot of push from my husband I finally decided to take the plunge and started a food blog of my own!

Q: What sort of food do you feature here?
A: Most of the recipes featured on this site are inspired from delicious cuisines from all around the world. Being an Indian my cuisine is heavily influenced by myriad of Indian spices and techniques but once in a while I do like to go out and try something completely different and out of my comfort zone. I try to keep the recipes featured here healthy and simple. The ingredients I use are easily available in US and I try to give substitutions for ingredients that I believe might be difficult to find in other countries.

Q: How do I follow your recipes?
A: The recipes and ingredients featured here are mere guidelines. Every palette is different as is every variation of an ingredient. One red chili powder is different from the other! I suggest you take the recipes published here as guidelines and suite them to your own tastes and preferences! As a note, the recipes featured here are tried and tested by my family and friends but I am by no means an expert so please use them at your own risk.

Q: If I have a question, how do I contact you?
A: I love to hear from you so please feel free to use the contact form or email me at GingerGarlic.blog@gmail.com.
